Cities and Towns of Ukraine

Ukraine is composed of 27 administrative units: an autonomy (Crimea), 24 oblasts and 2 cities of national importance (Kyiv city (population about 2.6 million) - the capital of Ukraine, and the city of Sevastopol). As of December 2005, Ukraine has 490 districts, 457 cities, of which 178 - state, national and regional significance and  279 of regional importance, 885 towns and 28 562 villages . 26 Ukrainian cities divided into 118 urban areas.

KIEV - KYIV - capital of Ukraine, one of the largest and oldest cities in Europe. Kiev located in the middle flow of the Dnieper River, in northern Naddnipryaschyna. Leading cultural, political, socio-economic and scientific center.

  • Vyshgorod is a littlie town that is situated on picturesque banks of the river Dnipro, north from the capital of Ukraine, the city of Kyiv.
  • Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi  was proclaimed a historical sanctuary.

CHERNIVTSI is is one of the few cities in Ukraine, which is rightly considered to be the pearl of architecture.

CRIMEA - Crimea is one of the best resorts in Ukraine and worldwide. Since ancient times, the Crimean land is famous for its healing power. Crimean Black Sea coast and wonderful climate creates unique conditions for the restoration of health and recreation.

  • Alupka is one of the most famous resorts in the Crimea with an extensive network of hotels and holiday hotels. 
  • Alushta is one of the most popular climate resorts of Southern coast of Crimea. Each year travelers from all over the world come to recreate on the sea in Alushta and see Alushta sights.
  • BakhchisaraiOld Bakhchisarai is located at the foot of the steep weathered rocks in the river valley Tchuruk-Su.
  • Balaklava - a small town on the Black Sea in Crimea. There are many scattered around the world, and most of them known only to their residents, and even the postman. 
  • Feodosiya is a repudiation of the routine of everyday life, fun entertainment, the opportunity to visit fascinating excursions and have a great time.
  • Foros is a small resort village of striking beauty, 45 km west of Yalta. This southernmost town of the Crimea has arisen on the site of the former Genoese colony  Forii.
  • Kerch is the most ancient city of Crimea. Guests of Kerch enjoy low-cost and high-quality vacations, long sandy sparsely populated beaches and boating. 
  • Koktebel means in Turkic "land of blue tops". This beautiful town is located in the bay near fabulously beautiful valley.
  • Malorechenskoe is the resort, what’ll fill you with tranquility and will help you to fill in vital energy.
  • Sevastopol is a sea port and an amazing city, rich in historical background, cultural values and architectural monuments
  • Simferopol as a capital of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea has a very advantageous geographic location. It is situated in the very center of the Crimea peninsula.
  • Simeiz located between Yalta and Foros. Surroundings - the warmest place in Crimea, as the village from all sides except the sea, surrounded by mountains. 
  • Shelkino is a small town on the Azov sea, located near the famous Cape Kazantip. Shelkino founded in October 1978 as a settlement of the builders of the Crimean nuclear power plant and is named in honor of Cyril Shchelkin, a Soviet nuclear physicist.
  • Sudak is located in a mountain bowl at the foot of the majestic Bear Mountain. From old times it gained fame of the resort town.
  • Rybachye is is a picturesque village situated on the South Coast of the Crimean peninsula at the distance of 28 kilometers from Alushta.
  • Yalta is a pearl of southern resorts. Yalta bordered on the west, north and east of Mount Ai-Petri, Yalta and Nikita Yayla to protect the resort from the north winds.

DNIPROPETROVSK is one of the most rapidly developing cities of Ukraine. There are modern shopping and business centers, cinemas, places of recreation. The longest promenade in Europe is located in Dnepropetrovsk.  

  • Dneprodzerzhinsk is a clean neat town with many interesting architectural monuments, churches. 
  • Marrhanets is is not as noisy and crowded as the popular resorts. Here you can relax in body and soul.

DONETSK is considered to be an industrial giant and populous city. This is true, and despite this, Donetsk is very beautiful and green city.

  • Svyatogorsk is a very beautiful and extraordinary place, where one can spend unforgettable time and enjoy the nature and its surroundings, enrich himself spiritually

IVANO-FRANKIVSK - The city has been based in 1662 by Krakow castellan, subsequently crowned hetman Andrzej Pototsky (from a known family of the Polish magnates), and named Stanislavs in honor of the father, the great crowned hetman Stanislav Pototsky "Revery".

  • Yaremche - Yaremcha – is a mountain climatic resort located ashore the Prut river, in a picturesque hollow between mountains. Through Yaremcha passes road to the highest top of Carpathians Mountains - Goverla.
  • BukovelBukovel is one of the most famous ski resorts in Carpathian Mountains, located near the village of Polanica. Bukovel is one of the best ski resorts with excellent facilities for a comfortable skiing.
  • Dolyna is a cute regional centre, situated in Precarpathia not far from Ivano-Frankivsk. 
  • Kalush attracts people by its picturesque landscapes, beautiful nature, which is represented by dense forests, where you can always go for walk and make a picnic, by the mountainous rivers Limnytsya, Mlynivka and Syvka, Limnytsya, by the way, is the cleanest river in Europe.
  • Kolomyia is a magical corner of the natural Carpathian landscape. It is also an important spiritual, cultural, artistic, commercial and economic center of the region with a rich and glorious history, which attracts scholars and artists from all over Ukraine and abroad. 
  • Kosivs is a unique picturesque corner of Ukrainian Carpathians, a region of high mountains, swift streams, clean air, hardworking and enthusiastic people.
  • Tlumach has some unique natural and historical monuments.
  • Yablunitsa - Ski holidays in Yablunytsa just infect you with love for skiing  and winter recreation! 
  • Vorohta is a picturesque village in Ivano-Frankivsk region, surrounded by the Carpathian mountains. It is one of the best alpine ski resort of Ukraine.
  • VerhovynaTourists are able there to emerge on canoe, rafts, kayaks, go to the top of the Carpathians, fish and do rock climbing.
  • SheshoryRecreation in Sheshory resort gives an opportunity to see one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Carpathians.
  • Tysmenytsia is a small town in the west of Ukraine with a history of a thousand of years, have not been discovered by the mass tourist yet but no doubt has a few things to offer and will be of a particular interest for fur shoppers.

KHARKIV - The City of Kharkov was founded in the middle of XVII century as a defensive item. Acquaintance with the city begins with the University hill.

  • Balakleya is not a very modern but a green, cozy and quiet place. It is the place which every modern citizen needs for a really good and healthy rest – the place which makes a perfect combination of the rich Ukrainian culture, all the necessary comforts and the wild nature.
  • Volochansk is full of Ukrainian traditions and residents will be happy to tell you many ancient stories. 
  • Volodymyr-Volynskyj is one of the oldest cities in Ukraine. Visitors will definitely enjoy clean and beautiful city with hospitable citizens and lots of historical attractions.

LVIV  - Lviv is the national, cultural, educational and scientific center of the country. Lviv is considered to be the capital of Galicia and western Ukraine.

  • Slavske - the picturesque settlement, the popular mountain-skiing center of Ukraine and great vacation spot in mountains.
  • Tysovets - In 32 km from the city of Skole the sports base "Tysovets" is located. It is the center of winter sports of the international level.
  • Skole - Inflows of the rivers Stryj and Opir, remarkable mountain kinds and pure air do this territory extremely attractive to green tourism.
  • Orjavchik - the picturesque settlement  is located in the heart of Carpathians.
  • Drohobych is is one of the oldest and most interesting cities of Lviv region.
  • Pervomaisk is an interesting place with natural reserves and interesting museums.
ODESSA - Odessa is the famous resort, the largest port in Ukraine, a cultural center and just a beautiful city. 

POLTAVA is often visited by people who want to explore a less crowded Ukrainian city, not yet spoiled by tourists. 
  • Kremenchuk saved its historical and cultural spirit. Among the places of historic interest is Granite rock – geological nature sanctuary and ancient geodetic sign situated on the slope of Dnieper River.

RIVNE is  is called Amber city, because this is the only place in Ukraine, where amber is mined and processed. 

TERNOPIL is a city and administrative center of Ternopol region of Western Ukraine. In Ternopol region there are about 4000 monuments of history and culture and focus a third of all the castles and castle building in Ukraine.

UZHGOROD  is beautiful landscapes, fresh mountain air, loads of architectural and historical attractions, inexpensive cafes (that propose delicious dishes and local grape wine) and cheap souvenirs attract visitors to the city. 
  • Mukacheve is the city that for centuries has been a melting pot for people of different nationalities and cultures (as it stood at the crossroads of European trade routes), as a result has got its own bright image. 
  • Pylypets is a ski resort, located in Carpathian Mountains at an altitude of 700-750 meters above sea level. Monument of nature Shipot, one of the most majestic and beautiful waterfalls in the Ukrainian Carpathians is located near the Pilipets in the lowlands in the river Ploshanka. T
  • Bar has some places, which carry historical and cultural value of old times.
  • Energodar  is one of the most comfortable cities of Ukraine with a population of 55 thousand people. The city combines the seemingly incompatible things - a great nature and industry.
  • Akimovka - the beauty of nature and fresh air will distract you from the urban bustle and will give unforgettable experience.
  • Vasilyevka is a perfect place for the green tourism and the weekend rest from "big city life”.
ZHYTOMYR is is a historical and cultural jewel of Ukraine with the rich past and interesting present. 
  • Korosten is is one of the most beautiful cities in Zhitomir region of northern Ukraine. It is city of ancient history and rich culture, a land of beautiful nature and sincere hospitable people.
  • Andrusivka has enough places of interest to satisfy the burning desire of seeing something unusual of any tourist.
