Simeiz located between Yalta and Foros. Surroundings - the warmest place in Crimea, as the village from all sides except the sea, surrounded by mountains. SIMEIZ CRIMEA OBSERVATORY
The mountain cat is located Observatory, Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. It was founded by N. Maltsev in 1900, and later handed them a gift of Pulkovo Observatory. The Observatory was engaged in the definition of the radial velocities of stars and study them in carbon isotopes. Many years Simeiz astronomers were also engaged in research of new minor planets, asteroids, giving them names associated with the Crimea: "Simeiz", "Yalta", "Gaspra", "Krymeya" and others. Since 1974 Simeis transformed into an experimental laser station observations of artificial satellites.
